All About Abby Cate

Here we will share some clips and tales of our bouncing baby girl. Come back and visit to she how she grows!

5 weeks old and smiling!

Brett, Moose and Court survived Abby's 3rd and 4th week growth spurts, but not unscathed. Though "Mommy" lost several winks during late-night feedings (often waking at 4 am in the nursery glider after an extended 1 am feeding) and "Daddy's" ears will never be the same, poor little Abby might have had it the worst. It appears babies go through a mini puberty of sorts, leaving Abby's once perfect skin covered in a bad case of "baby acne" and her cute little ears touched by cradle cap.

Supposedly these conditions cause more emotional pain for the parents than physical pain for the baby, and should clear up on their own sometime soon. It appears this tale is true as our 5 week old baby girl has treated us to some very exciting first smiles! You can catch her hamming it up in the clip below. And, despite Mommy feeling like a milk machine and not all feedings going super smoothly, baby Abby is indeed thriving. Last weigh in, 2.20.08 - 8 lbs, 11.5 oz, 21.5 inches!

First Family Dining Out Experience - Blackberry Bistro

With torrential rain forcasted for the weekend, we decided to make the most of our weekend and venture out for breakfast with Abby. Strategically timed between Abby's 7:45 and 9:45 breakfasts, we were able to enjoy a real meal out together as a family.

Here we are at the local Blackberry Bistro, where the omelets are giant and the coffee is strong enough for new parents.

Call it beginners' luck but Abby barely stirred during the entire meal.

4 Weeks Old and Dad's Already Got Me Workin!

I turned 4 weeks old today! Man, how time flies! It seems like just yesterday that I was all snugged up in Mom's belly.

To celebrate my 1 month milestone, we took our first roadtrip as a family, down to Modesto. We visited Grandma and Grandpa Uyeshiro and Uncle Brendan. They were in the middle of a kitchen remodel and really needed Daddy and my help, so we lent a hand.

Other fun things we did this weekend were making trips to Babies R Us and the mall (where Grandma spoiled me with a cool new bouncy seat and a mirror so Mom and Dad can see me in the car) and visiting Uncle Brendan at his job at The Yogurt Mill. He said I could swirl a cone when I get older.

Naive Mommy. Take One!

Silly Mommy! You thought I was making such "cute cooing noises." Good thing I am so cute, huh?

2 weeks - I discover the Mobile and Mommy Discovers My Cute Toes

On a whim, we placed Abby in her crib and turned on her Tiny Love mobile (thanks Marnie and Mike!). Never expecting a 2 week old to really take note of the funny creatures swinging around her head, we were pleasantly surprised to find Abby completely entranced by her mobile. We are in awe of our little infant.

In the many hours already spent feeding Little Miss Abby, Courtney has taken up a new hobby/passtime/obsession in snapping shots of "our little peanut." Here are some sweet shots of all her fingers and all her toes. They are deliciously soft and pink!
